Research interests/expertise

My research interests lie at the intersection of alternative education, neurodiversity, and adaptive teaching and learning strategies. I am particularly focused on exploring how meta-learning and cognitive science can enhance educational practices, especially for neurodivergent learners. Functional language and its role in learning, alongside the concept of aphantasia, form key components of my inquiry, as I investigate how these areas impact memory, learning, and student engagement. Through my research, I aim to develop innovative and inclusive teaching approaches that cater to diverse learning needs, fostering environments where all students can thrive.

Areas of teaching

My areas of teaching include the history of education, theory of education, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) with a focus on neurodiversity. Through these subjects, I aim to provide students with a deep understanding of the educational landscape and the importance of inclusive practices in supporting diverse learners.

Qualifications

My qualifications include a BA in History, an MA in History, a PGCE, and recognition as a Senior HE Fellow. These qualifications underpin my commitment to high-quality teaching and educational leadership, enabling me to support and inspire students effectively in their academic journeys.
