Visitor car parking

These guidelines have been issued for university staff wishing to book parking spaces for guests travelling by private car. Please note, however, that we are committed to promoting alternative methods of travel to the university and we encourage all users to visit the following websites to see whether public transport or car sharing may be a viable option for visiting guests.

.

Please note the visitor parking permits will not be issued to any staff and students of the university including those involved with short courses.

Paying for your visitor parking

All visitors to the university who park on campus 24/7 are required to pay the requisite Pay & Display charge and display a Ð԰ɵç̨ Visitor Parking Permit and Pay & Display ticket whilst using the car park. THIS INCLUDES ALL UNIVERSITY EVENTS. The current charges are £2 for up to 5 hours and £4 for up to 12 hours and £8 for up to 24 hours. The machines are card only.

Making visitor parking requests

Requests may be made by emailing the Estates Helpdesk at estateshelpdesk@dmu.ac.uk. Bookings will not be taken more than 6 weeks in advance unless they relate to 'special' or large events. Office hours are 8.00am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 4.30pm on Friday. Please note that no email request should be considered as booked until confirmation is received from the Estates Helpdesk.

Restrictions

The maximum number of spaces that can be booked by any one person will be restricted to 5. For special events that require a greater number of visitor spaces email the Estates Helpdesk at estateshelpdesk@dmu.ac.uk and enquire about Event Parking.

The capacity is 20 spaces on the visitor car park, once these spaces are fully allocated, further bookings will not be taken. Please use as provided by other parking companies in the city.

Cancelling your booking

Due to the limited availability, if a booked space is no longer required, the person who made the booking should contact the Estates Helpdesk on extension 6366 or email Estates helpdesk so that the space can be reallocated.

Information for your booking

The following information will be required by the person taking the booking before the space can be booked:

  • Date when the visitor parking is required.
  • Arrival time and departure time.
  • Vehicle registration.
  • Visitor and company name.
  • The name of the person and faculty/department that they are here to visit.
  • The name and extension number of the person making the booking.

These details will be recorded into the visitor car-parking diary and will aid security staff in directing the visitor on arrival.

Visitor parking permits

Permits will be issued by security staff upon entry to the main car-park and should be clearly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle. Failure to do so could render the driver liable to a parking charge of £80 (reducing to £40 if paid within 14 days). The visitor will then be directed where to park - this may include one of the overflow car-parks.
