University is an exciting journey but there may be times when you feel overwhelmed. We offer lots of support through our Healthy Ð԰ɵç̨ initiative to help our students through any hard times they may experience while with us.
Our Healthy Ð԰ɵç̨ Hub has a wealth of online resources to help you maintain a fulfilling study/ life balance.
Mental wellbeing
Should you ever need one-to-one support, the Healthy Ð԰ɵç̨ team offers single point-of-access appointments (SPAs) where you can discuss your situation with a member of support staff from Wellbeing Services.
There are free online mental well-being resources available to you too. Our Ð԰ɵç̨ mindfulness practitioners have produced a series of podcasts offering guided meditation to help you take a break and connect with your breathing. You can also attend a face-to-face session on campus by booking via MyGateway.
Ð԰ɵç̨ students have access to and , trusted platforms that provide students with confidential support via text, phone, emails and webchats.
A free programme of masterclasses is also available for you to book on to, and students who attend four or more sessions will have this recognised as an achievement on their Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
These include bespoke workshops to help students develop skills to support their friends, explore hobby and craft activities to allow students to relax, and a fortnightly social group for students with ADHD to meet, discuss diagnosis and develop organisational skills.

Healthy choices
Taking care of your physical health is particularly important while studying at university. The Healthy Ð԰ɵç̨ team is on hand to help all our students make healthy lifestyle choices.
Confidential support sessions for students looking for help with drug and alcohol use are provided through Turning Point. Sessions are run throughout the academic year and take place between 1.30pm and 5pm in De Montfort Student Union, Pod Space.
Information on sexual health, vaccinations, GP registration, meal-prepping and advice on stopping smoking is available through the Healthy Ð԰ɵç̨ Hub.
Healthy lifestyle choices aren’t just limited to your physical and mental health. Your financial health is just as important. Ð԰ɵç̨’s Student Finance team is located in Student Gateway but also delivers support, advice and guidance online, which can be accessed here.
From budgeting tips to advice on household bills or grants available, the Student Finance and Welfare team is on hand to help you.
Ð԰ɵç̨active
Sports and physical activity can play a significant role in boosting physical and mental well-being.
On top of the range of sports societies open to our students, Ð԰ɵç̨active hosts a number of sporting and fitness sessions throughout the year. From Zumba to basketball, volleyball to badminton, these sessions are a great opportunity to blow off some steam, make new friends and find a new hobby.
Ð԰ɵç̨active sessions are catered towards all abilities and fitness levels. You will need to book on to a session before attending but booking is easy and can be done through the Ð԰ɵç̨ Leisure app or the online booking form.
